These are loop rides from the Delta County Fairgrounds.



                                                  GREAT LUNCH STOP

 On Dallas Divide you get a spectacular view of the San Juans, many over 13000 feet. The route then follows the San Miguel to Hwy 141. 141 is known for it’s great sweepers. Traffic is light and the riding’s great. At Gateway there ‘s the Paradox Grill, part of the Gateway Canyons Resort. Go in the main gate, circle around to parking and walk to the Grill. Fuel is also available 2 miles North on 141.
   Head to Delta(21m), turn left on 50/550 Montroseand Ridgway (49 m).  Take 62 West over Dallas Divide to Placerville (23 m). Right on 145 to Naturita (37m). Take 141 toGateway (41m). From Gateway stay on 141 to Whitewater and right on 50 back to Delta and Hotchkiss (94). A nice rest break is on 141 at the Hanging Flume Historical Site, signs are on the road.

      Owl Creek passes through some of the most beautiful mountain scenery found anywhere in Colorado and was used in filming John Wayne’s True Grit. Thelarge Aspen groves are very colorful this time of the year.
   Head towards Blue Mesa Dan on 92, 53-miles.. Turn West on US50 for 16.3 miles. Take a left at the Forest Service sign pointing to Silver Jack Reservoir. Do not take the Forest Service Road pointing to Little Cimmaron, The right road 1 miles farther west. The right road is FR 858, going to Silver Jack Reservoir. It’s about 42-miles across Owl Creek Pass on a good gravel Road. We like to go turn South at 550 and go intoRidgway for lunch, There are several good restaurants in the old town of Ridgway. From here it’s 70 miles back to Hotchkiss via Montrose and Delta.

Lands End and Divide Road

   Never made it to Copper Canyon yet? Lands End drops 5000 feet with many switchbacks and is the site of the Lands End Hill Climb. Built by the CCC the route is is more scenic thanMexico's Copper Canyon. Divide Road runs along the Top of the Uncompaghre Plateau whichcan be seen looking west across the valley from the top of Lands End.   
   West on 92 towards Delta, turn right 65 to Cedaredge. Continue on 65 to5 m past the Visitors , turn Left on “Skyway” or “Observatory” You'll drop off the Mesa and hit US50 in about 12 m. Turn Right on US 50 for about 4 m. and then L on 141 towards Gateway. In 14-miles turn left on26.5 which turns into FR 402. Follow it for 27m until FR 503 which leads to Delta. Or ,continue on Divide Road 27m andyou will come out on Dallas Divide,Hwy62. Then it's a 15 m ride to Ridgway.   Take a lunch on this one as there is nothing , unless you choose to go the Ridgway route. There are several good places including True Grit on the town square.
